Indian Wells hosts the hosts the sixth-largest tennis tournament in the world, the Indian Wells Masters tennis tournament, currently known as the BNP Paribus Open. Play is at Indian Wells Tennis Garden which has 29 tennis courts, including the 16,100-seat main stadium, which is the second largest tennis-specific stadium in the world. Each March you can see the world's top tennis players compete.
The first Bob Hope Golf Classic was hosted by the Indian Wells Country Club in 1960. The world famous Indian Wells Golf Resort began construction in 1986.
